Description
Telemental health services present a range of ethical, regulatory, risk management and clinical issues that are not encountered when professionals offer in-person care. The purpose of this workshop is to give an overview of these issues, and to discuss the professional guidelines, regulations and standards that may apply. In particular, this course covers ethical standards and guidelines regarding competency, security/confidentiality, jurisdictional/regulatory issues, clinical suitability, informed consent, safety/emergency planning, documentation, clinician self-care, boundary issues, remote assessments and service reimbursement. Methods of providing ethically and legally appropriate and risk-managed telemental health care are underscored.
